ADULT DAY CARE SEEKING LOCATION IN BELLINGHAM
As you may know, the only Adult Day Care (sometime referred to as adult day health) program in Whatcom county recently closed. In response, Adult Day Care in Skagit County is looking to start an adult day care in Whatcom County. They hope to have a program available to local seniors by the end of the year in a temporary space, if needed. PEACEHEALTH AWARDS A $22,200 COMMUNITY COLLABORATIVE GRANT TO HEALTH MINISTRIES NETWORK
Health Ministries Network is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) in Bellingham Washington that advocates for holistic health care in Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan and Island counties in Western Washington. The grant supports the work of faith community nurses and community health advocates in over 50 congregations and community organizations.

WHATCOM COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT STARTS NEEDLE DISPOSAL PILOT PROGRAM
As the opioid epidemic intensifies, the Whatcom County Health Department (WCHD) is addressing the issue of used needles found in public places. The Department is now offering free needle clean up kits to businesses and community groups who want to safely clean up needles found on public property.

HMN receives grants from the PeaceHealth and Chuckanut Healthcare Foundation to offer Transitional Care Services
Using these grants, Health Ministry Network will:
¤ Establish seven congregational (community) centers in Whatcom County with FCNs and qualified HMs who offer hospital to home transitional care services;
¤ Centers will provide transitional services by a FCN or qualified HM upon discharge from the hospital or LTC facility.
